PROTON  25 May 2017 | 
1. Proton has been sold. It has been sold to foreigners.

2. They say Proton is my brainchild. Now the child of my brain has been sold.

3. Yes. I am sad. I can cry. But the deed is done. Proton can no longer be national. No national car now. We Malaysians are glad to be rid of this pesky car. I am sure Proton will do well. It will be a commercial success. It will be sold all over the world. The Proton name will be everywhere.

4. It will be like Singapore. Malaysians are proud of this great city-state. If it had not been sold it would be, perhaps, as well developed as Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis. Then we cannot be proud of Singapore.

5. Now we can be proud of Proton. With money and superior technology it will compete with Rolls Royce and Bentley.

6. But I cannot be proud of its success. I cannot be proud of the success of something that does not belong to me or my country. Maybe other Malaysians will, but not me. Come to think of it, if our country is sold to others, to the very rich people of other countries, I am sure our country will become well developed too. It can even be a fully developed country – exceeding the expectations of Vision 2020.

7. It will be a great country with super highways, high-speed rail (HSR), gleaming skyscrapers, shining new towns, beautifully landscaped and lighted. But I can’t be proud! Can I be proud to be living on the fringes of this great country so well developed by the buyers.

8. I will die soon. I am already beyond average age. And as I slip into my final years, or month or days, I will watch as our beloved country is sold to foreigners to settle the trillion Ringgits that we owe. We will have to sell more and more of our country.

9. What are our assets? Our land of course!! That was what we did in the past. We sold chunks of our country. We lost the land we sold. That is what we are doing now. And that will be what we will have to do – or forfeit our country; like we forfeit Proton.

10. Proton the child of my brain has been sold. It is probably the beginning of the great sell-out. The process is inexorable. No other way can we earn the billions to pay our debts. The only way is to sell our assets. And eventually we will lose our country, a great country no doubt, but owned by others.

11. I am a sissy. I cry even if Malaysians are dry-eyed. My child is lost. And soon my country.

BEGINNING OF THE MALAYSIAN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY.

Proton Saga is a symbol of the beginning of the Malaysian automotive industry. As a Malaysian, we should be proud with our country because we have the capability to make our own car and become one of the automotive country. Proton has manufacture many model after Proton  Saga.

PROTON SAGA :1985–1991

Proton Saga was launched in September 1985 by the Prime Minister of Malaysia at that time, Dato ‘Seri Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad        (now Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad). Proton Saga model is based on the early  Mitsubishi Lancer cars model of Fiore 1983.Name of Proton Saga model is chosen from the winners of contests  to choose the name of the first national car by retired army Ismail Jaafar. Proton Saga was released in the United Kingdom in 1989.
As a symbol of the beginning of the automotive industry in Malaysia, the Proton Saga is the first release was awarded to the National Museum Malaysia.  The first issue is model cars 4 door saloon, followed by the addition of variations, introduced in 1988 as the Proton Knight and was known as the Saga Aeroback .
Early Proton Saga models are supported by a gasoline engine SOHC 8-valve 4-cylinder sourced from Mitsubishi, available in both 1.3 and displacements.Both machines are available with 1.5-liter 5-speed manual transmission, but the Mitsubishi 3-speed Tri-matic Automatic is available with 1.5 liter engines in 1987.
In 1990, the revised line-up with the introduction of machinery Megavalve 12-valve, which increases the position of power to 75 bhp (56 kW) (from the original 70.5 bhp (53 kW) on the ex-valve 8 (Magma) version) for the 1.3 liter engine , and 90 bhp (67 kW) for the 1.5 liter engine.

PROTON SAGA ISWARA: 1992–2002

The Proton Saga was given a facelift in 1992 and its name expanded as Proton Saga Iswara or also known as Proton Iswara.In United Kingdom this model was known as the Proton MPi.This particular model is mostly used as taxis in Malaysia and some are converted to NGV.Modifications included slimmer headlights, grooved taillight clusters, side mouldings, plastic bumpers, coloured door handles, and rear number plate repositioned to the bumper.

PROTON WIRA : 1993

Proton Wira, also known as the Proton Persona in some countries, the models produced by Proton Berhad, Malaysia’s national car manufacturer. This model was introduced in 1993, a car-based Mitsubishi Lancer / Colt. Between 1996 and 1998, this model has reached sales of 220,000 units, and is a very popular model in Malaysia.

PROTON SAGA LMST (2003–2008)

In 2003, Proton gave the Iswara a new facelift and renamed it back to Saga or known as Saga LMST by local car community. Saga LMST exterior received new headlights and taillights and colour-coded bumpers and wing mirrors.Meanwhile, the interior has an entirely new dashboard, an instrument panel with a digital display consisting of an odometer, a fuel gauge and a temperature gauge and new door panels.

On January, 2008, Proton unveiled the second generation of Proton Saga,named Proton Saga BLM (Base Line Model) which was planned to be phased out in June 2008.
